Lupulin (Humulus lupulus) 10g

Lupulin is the glandular powder separated from the strobiles of the Humulus lupulus (hops) plant. It has sedative effects on the body and mind and stimulates sleep. This powder is separated by beating or rubbing the strobiles of hops, and then sifting them. The sifting is necessary to remove the broken bracts and other vegetable parts. About 10 per cent of lupulin is thus obtained from the dried hops. The powder is bright brownish-yellow and become resinous.

Lupulin has the odour and common taste of hop.

Lupulin has the same sedative effects as hop, but due to the sifting it is stronger.
Gives an mild high with relaxing qualities. Works well as a relaxation for the nerves and provides a better sleep.

The powder has been used in a medical manner for delirium tremens, wakefulness, anxiety and exhaustion. It allays irritation and promotes sleep.
It is a sedative belonging to the same category as valerian, skullcap and passion flower.

TEA: 150 ml of boiled water with 1 teaspoon of Lupulin. Because the taste is bitter a sweetener like honey is sometimes added. Around 0.5 grams for 1 cup of tea is used. 1 teaspoon is about 0.4 grams.

Made a cup of tea according to instructions, pleasant and mellow effects. Strong afterglow the next day of peace and tranquility.

This powder is dry to touch, however, once pressed between the fingers, the resin-powder coated glands bind with one another. I pressed 3g of powder into 7 small balls of sticky resin. Then squidged all of them together. What resulted was a ball of Lupulin hashish which looked identical to other known solids! As Lupulin glands contain the most concentrated active chemicals of the Humulus Lupulus plant, compressing the glands like this increases the concentration five fold. Anyhow, onto the smoke, it is quite harsh, however not too harsh, with a very unique taste. Humulus Lupulus is one of only two members of the Cannabaceae family, the other being Cannabis. The main effect to impact me was a sense of pure relaxation, absolutely zero anxiety in busy settings and an overall mellowed feeling. Many say Lupulin causes sleepiness, in me it didn't. This is literally like Hash with the darker aspects removed. My rating is five as this would be perfect for a long walk, meditation or an evening smoke to settle you ready for sleep. One last thing, compressing all those hash balls hurts the fingers beyond words by the end!
